Periodically issues affecting San Mateo County also affect the cities in the county. Often, in these cases, department heads and other staff are responsible for contacting the cities in an attempt to establish a uniform position. Prior to these contacts the Board of Supervisors should be consulted during a regular Board meeting in order for it to advise county staff of the position to be taken in the discussions.
